Ironwork and Gilding in Vidauban

High-end catering

As part of our projects in Vidauban, we have carried out the complete renovation of a gate and various ironwork elements, including the ornaments of a window and the gilding of an old fireplace.

Our goal:

enhance the metal while ensuring long-lasting protection against bad weather and corrosion.

Renovation of a Gate and Painting in the Workshop

We carefully dismantled the decorative gold parts of the gate, in order to work on them comfortably in our workshop.

Once these elements were exposed, mechanical sanding was carried out on the flat surfaces, while the moldings and hard-to-reach areas were sanded manually.

To ensure optimum adhesion and counteract the effects of humidity, we applied a phosphating anti-rust undercoat followed by two coats of alkyd resin-based anti-rust paint.

The latter, more flexible, adapts perfectly to variations in temperature and humidity, which helps prevent cracks and flaking of the paint over time.

Low Pressure Spray Painting (HVLP)

Once the preparation was complete, we painted the decorative moldings and the gate with a low-pressure spray gun (HVLP).

This spraying technique guarantees a regular and neat finish, while limiting paint mist.

Result :

a perfectly uniform surface and a remarkable shine, in keeping with the high-end aesthetic we are looking for.

Gilding of Points, Moldings and Ornaments

To enhance the details, we applied new gilding to the tips of the portal and to various decorative moldings.

After rigorous preparation work, a gold leaf gilding process was also used to restore all the prestige to an old fireplace.

This intervention reveals the finesse of the ironwork and underlines the authentic character of each element.

Renovation of a Window Ironwork

Au même titre que le portail, la ferronnerie d’une fenêtre en proie à la rouille a bénéficié du même protocole :

mise à nu, traitement antirouille et application de deux couches de peinture de finition.

Dans ce cas, nous avons opté pour une teinte lavande, conforme au souhait du propriétaire et en harmonie avec l’architecture locale.
