ENHANCE YOUR TERRACE

Sommaire de la page

We renovate your wooden terraces and take care to provide them with the appropriate treatment . This one was carried out in the parks of Saint Tropez.

Firstly we stripped it by mechanical sanding , then carried out a finishing sanding, dusting and finally the application of a saturator in three layers.

In this photo, a craftsman prepares a wooden deck using an electric sander. This step is crucial to remove old finishing layers and smooth the surface of the wood, ensuring better adhesion of future treatments and a long-lasting renovation. The sander is in action, revealing the natural texture of the wood under the old varnish. This preparation work is essential to ensure the longevity and aesthetics of the deck once the renovation is complete.

SANDING / STRIPPING

We strip your wooden terrace in order to work on a raw and healthy surface.

Use of 80 grit then a second sanding of 120 grit with an eccentric rotary sander which respects the wood thanks to its Rotex technology.

This image shows a wooden deck being renovated, where a protective product is being applied. The difference between treated and untreated wood is clearly visible, illustrating the importance of this process in preserving the durability and appearance of the wood. The brush used to apply the product is prominently displayed, symbolizing the restoration effort. This treatment is essential to protect the wood from the elements and UV rays, ensuring a vibrant deck for years to come.

SATURATOR

Unlike a stain or varnish , the saturator is not film-forming.

It protects the wood by saturation, impregnating it deep down to the surface, while the stain or varnish protects it by creating an impermeable film on the surface of the wood.

The wood appearance is preserved and there is no risk of blistering or peeling.

This image captures a wooden deck undergoing renovation, where the contrast between the raw wood and the stained wood is clearly visible. The application of the stain product reveals the natural beauty of the wood while protecting it from the elements. The serene sea view in the background adds a touch of tranquility, emphasizing the importance of a well-maintained outdoor space. This renovation not only revitalizes the aesthetics of the deck but also ensures its longevity in the face of weather conditions.

APPLICATION

In order for the saturation to be relevant we apply 3 layers of saturator.

Your terrace is then protected and embellished

Pourquoi rénover une terrasse en bois ?

Why renovate a wooden terrace?

A wooden terrace is constantly exposed to external aggressions, which can affect its appearance, its safety , and its longevity.

Here are the main reasons to invest in a renovation:

1. Restore your natural aesthetics

Visual comparison showing a deck before and after cleaning and saturator application.

Wood that has become gray from the weather or stained by organic residue loses its original charm.

A renovation allows you to revive its natural tones or personalize it with a modern finish.

Localized example:

In Saint-Tropez , an ipé wood terrace has regained its shine thanks to sanding followed by an application of tinted saturating oil.

2. Protect the wood against attacks

Moisture , UV rays, and fungi are the main enemies of wood.

Appropriate treatment preserves its structure and protects it against these factors.

3. Augmenter la durée de vie

A well- maintained and regularly renovated deck can last for several decades, avoiding costly replacements.

Detailed steps to renovate a wooden terrace

A successful renovation is based on a precise methodology and suitable tools.

Here are the essential steps to restore your terrace:

1. Inspection and initial preparation

Start by inspecting your deck for damaged boards, loose nails or screws, and any signs of mold or mildew.

Actions to be taken:

• Replacement of damaged blades:

Remove cracked or rotten boards and replace them with new wood of the same species.

• Fixing the elements:

Check and tighten screws or replace if necessary.

Trick :

For a raised deck, also inspect the underlying structure for possible stability issues.

2. Thorough cleaning

A craftsman cleans a wooden deck with a pressure washer, removing stains and dirt.

Cleaning is an essential step to eliminate dirt, organic residue , and stubborn stains.

Cleaning methods:

• High pressure jet:

Use a pressure washer with a wide nozzle to avoid damaging the wood.

• Application of degreaser:

This product revives the natural colour of the wood and removes traces of greying.

Localized example:

In Sainte-Maxime , a pine terrace was cleaned with a degreaser followed by a low-pressure rinse, restoring its original color.

3. Sanding for a smooth surface

Sanding smooths the surface, removes splinters, and prepares the wood for treatment.

Necessary equipment:

An electric sander with medium grit sandpaper (80-120).

A protective mask to avoid inhaling dust.

Trick :

Work in the direction of the wood grain for a uniform finish.

4. Protective treatment

A roller applies a saturator to a terrace, reinforcing its protection and reviving its hues.

After cleaning and sanding, apply a treatment to protect the wood against UV rays, humidity, and mold.

Recommended products:

1. Saturator:

Protects the wood in depth while reviving its natural color.

2. Oil for exterior wood:

Nourishes the wood and protects it against cracks.

3. Glaze:

Ideal for an aesthetic finish with long-lasting protection.

Localized example:

In Draguignan , an exotic wood terrace was treated with a mahogany- tinted saturator to enhance its shine and resistance.

5. Finishing and maintenance

Once the treatment is applied, allow to dry completely.

Apply a second coat if necessary for added protection.

Trick :

Schedule annual maintenance to extend the life of your deck.
